New publication on Rights-Based Approaches

Nov 17 2005

The rights-based approach (RBA) to development has identified the failure of the international community to recognise and uphold people’s human rights as the core problem of development. Many development organisations are considering adopting rights-based approaches in their work - but there is no common understanding of what RBA means, nor how it works in practice. INTRAC has looked at how different Northern NGOs interpret RBA, and the research focuses on the particular challenges each individual international NGO faces when translating rights policies into operational reality.
