In January 2007, INTRAC opened a new programme in Central Asia entitled 'Strengthening NGOs to Support the Self-Help Movement'. This supports a network of twenty NGOs working on poverty and gender issues in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, funded by ICCO (Holland) through the Ecumenical Consortium for Central Asia (ECCA). INTRAC provides capacity building support and build up a group of national and local trainers and experts in community development.
INTRAC also provides training on staff management, resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, and trainers skills. In autumn 2007, INTRAC launched an Action Learning Sets initiative for local NGO staff and supporters.
In 2008, INTRAC plans to launch a new modular Analytical Skills Training Programme (ASTP) to enhance NGO capacities for research and analysis and improve their capacity for engaging in poliy-shaping discussions and debates. At the same time a Community of Practice will be developed for NGOs, donor agencies, government and business partners, on the themes of community development and local economic development.
