HIV/AIDS in the workplace

HIV Aids cartoon

The survival of many civil society organisations (CSOs) is threatened by HIV/AIDS. AIDS is having an immense impact on CSOs as staff are both infected and affected. The loss of staff time through sickness and funerals; depressed morale; and rising costs for medical care leaves CSOs struggling in an increasingly demanding, results-oriented environment. While the situation is especially serious in Africa it is increasingly affecting other continents such as South Asia.

This programme aims to increase the organisational resilience of CSOs to the impacts of HIV/AIDS by improving the support offered to CSOs by capacity-building providers and international donors.

The programme objectives are to:

• Improve the quality and expand the provision of capacity building services for internal HIV and AIDS mainstreaming by facilitating and expanding a global Praxis HIV and Capacity Building (CB) Learning group, documenting and sharing practical experiences. For more information visit the CB learning group page

• Influence international NGOs and donors to change their funding policies and practices in the light of HIV/AIDS. For more information visit the donor responses page
