The Central Asian state of Kyrgyzstan is in a state of transition in which civil society could play a historical role. Political changes over the past 15 years have done little to instil popular faith in leaders. What can be learnt from the experience of those now managing civil society organisations? What are the critical challenges they face today? What resources exist for training leaders in new forms of management?
