Dialoguing events

The programme convened a range of events – workshops, conferences, roundtables and public events – to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge on a range of critical issues facing Cypriot civil society. Events drew together actors from within civil society and from other sectors to increase debate and informed decision-making.

Successful Forum and Awards Ceremony!

The final events of the programme, the International Civil Society Forum and the CSO awards ceremony on 7 June 2008 received high praise from participants, speakers and donors alike.

Legal frameworks for NGOs: exploring the options
Discussion events: bridging the gap between NGOs and authorities (TCC)
Discussed how to bridge the gap between CSOs and authorities, mechanisms for achieving greater mutual engagement/cooperation and defining roles and responsibilities.

The role of local communities in the development of CSOs (GCC)
Highlighted the importance of cultivating relationships with local authorities, to illustrate the role of civil society in addressing local concerns.

EU Funding for NGOs (in coordination with the European Institute of Cyprus) (GCC)
Aimed to raise awareness of EU funding opportunities and implications for NGOs.

Civil Society Fair
The programme contributed a number of workshops and panel presentations at the International Civil Society Fair in Cyprus. Discussion explored civil society relations with other sectors from an international perspective; accountability and constituency building for CSO effectiveness; and strategic communications for CSOs.
