Capacity building for gender, diversity and equality

This new Praxis theme aims to explore how best to promote equality and diversity through organisational capacity building with and for CSOs. This is a concern that has emerged from INTRAC’s engagement with civil society partners. Many CSOs have emphasised a commitment to equality issues in recent years, particularly in relation to gender, but also to other aspects of diversity.

We aim to examine what has been taking place in this area, linking practitioners’ experiences with current thinking. To enable civil society organisations to become more effective we want to give practitioners in different cultures and contexts an opportunity to share their experiences of capacity building for equality and diversity, both positive and negative, with one another through a learning group.

Issues to be explored include:

  • What has been taking place regarding capacity building for equality and diversity?
  • What is the current thinking and what is the literature saying on this theme?
  • What have been the positive and negative experiences of CSOs on the ground of giving and receiving capacity building support?

We are currently setting up a worldwide learning group of civil society practitioners, where you can interact and share your experiences and knowledge on capacity building for diversity and equality. Find out more about what’s on offer in the group.
