Malawi

INTRAC had a field presence in Malawi for almost 10 years, until July 2006. We continue to provide support from the UK to the Malawian capacity building providers (such as CABUNGO and CADECO) that we have worked with over the years. This is part of our commitment of leaving local organisations able to provide high quality capacity building services to CSOs in the country. Malawi workshop participants

Achievements and learning from the programme:

  • Strengthened capacity building providers such as CABUNGO and CSO coalitions including MEJN and CISANET
  • Provision of high quality capacity building services to NGO support organisations (organisational development, management development, monitoring and evaluation systems development and staff formation)
  • Development of an innovative M&E system for capacity building
  • Facilitating the establishment of a local CSO policy research institute (IPRAD)
  • Leadership development: 100 per cent pass rate for 45 students on the NGO Management distance learning course from the University of London
  • Raising and exploring issues of HIV/AIDS and capacity building: within Malawi and globally
  • A series of ‘capacity building through reading’ workshops
