Linking research and practice - sharing solutions

The Praxis Learning Programme is about enabling civil society organisations to become more effective by linking theory and practice in organisational capacity building.

It gives practitioners with hands-on experience in different cultures and contexts an opportunity to share the solutions they develop in the course of their work.

Praxis learning groups have been developed to help steer the work of the different Praxis themes. For more information of how to get involved in Praxis email the Praxis team.

Development of Praxis

The first phase of the programme ran from 2003 to 2007 with funding from the Dutch Foreign Ministry. This phase explored different dimensions of capacity building such as organisational development, leadership and cross-cultural management. You can read more details about the other Praxis themes.

An independent final evaluation of the first phase of the Praxis Programme was carried out in July 2008.

The authors of the evaluation noted that:
"In view of its networks, reputation and approach to capacity building, INTRAC was the ideal - and possibly the only - organisation to be able to launch and implement a programme like Praxis."

The second phase of the programme started in 2008 and currently explores the impacts of HIV/AIDS in the workplace, and capacity building for gender, diversity and equality

Our much appreciated Praxis series of notes and papers continues to encourage practitioners to document their experiences and learning. You can download Praxis publications for free.
