Strengthening relationships between INGOs, civil society and the state
- We worked with EuropeAid to develop a background paper for the European Commission delegations in the countries of the former Soviet Union, on ways of ensuring civil society participation in policy dialogue. This is currently being developed into a training programme for Delegation staff.
- In 2009 INTRAC delivered a five-day workshop for staff at the Ministry of Social Development in Muscat and other regions in the Sultanate of Oman. The workshop introduced the ministry staff to concepts and principles of NGO support. The workshop was based on the various training modules delivered to Omani NGOs over the last five years by INTRAC and sponsored by the British Embassy in Muscat, around four main areas: governance; volunteerism; resource mobilisation; and management skills. The training was very well recieved – as it was run in Arabic participants felt they were able to discuss and analyse relevant issues at a deeper level.
