Martina has worked in the NGO and civil society sector since 1987, working both on national and international development issues. She began her work in the field of human resource management and development, holding posts in personnel management and staff development for the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and Save the Children respectively, before doing field work in Africa for Voluntary Service Overseas as a gender and development officer at community level.
Martina joined the Capacity Building team at INTRAC in 1996 and since then has been involved in organisation development both in a training and consultancy capacity for a range of international NGOs in Africa, Asia and Central Asia and more recently South Eastern Europe. From 2000 – 2004 she was lecturer in Development Studies at Birmingham University specialising in NGO management, organisation development, participatory approaches to development practice and gender issues.
Martina has a broad interest in development issues, with specialist research interest in gender and human rights work.
