HRH Princess Basma bint Talal opened the international conference hosted by JOHUD (Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development) in Amman, Jordan.

The aim of the conference was to open up the debate on the issue of community development and the recent resurgence of interest, on the part of international bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies, in involvement in grassroots development initiatives.

Over 70 development practitioners, policy makers, donors and academics attended and over 34 countries were represented at the event.
