Revised for 2025, the Planning section of our flagship M&E resource is now also available in three new translations.
We are happy to share the news that the core section of the M&E Universe has been translated and is now available in French, Spanish, and Bahasa Indonesia. The Planning section is at the heart of the M&E Universe and comprises 16 papers.
Originally launched in 2019, the M&E Universe is INTRAC’s flagship resource for monitoring and evaluation practitioners. It comprises around 120 short papers (2-6 pages each) on a wide variety of M&E topics. This unique resource is made available freely as part of INTRAC’s commitment to supporting the agency of civil society organisations (CSOs).
What’s new
The Planning section was the first part of the M&E Universe to be made available. In January 2025, it was updated to reflect changing thinking in the monitoring and evaluation space. Now, we have translated all 16 papers into three additional languages to broaden the availability of this free, open access resource.
The translation was accomplished using the neural machine translation service DeepL, and then extensively checked by fluent speakers of each language. Great care has been taken to ensure that M&E terms have been accurately translated as accurately as possible in these new versions. Should you notice any issues, please let us know.
The translation of the M&E Universe into Bahasa Indonesia increases its accessibility in Indonesia. Hopefully, it can be used to start discussions on the use of M&E to enhance CSOs' contribution to wider society.
Next steps
These translations reflect INTRAC’s ongoing commitment to supporting and developing the M&E Universe, and to the sharing of free, open access civil society resources more generally. One great way to keep up with further developments is to sign up to our mailing list. Additionally, in the coming weeks Nigel Simister – who leads on development of the M&E Universe – will be sharing insights into the Planning papers and how best to use them. To read these updates, be sure to follow INTRAC on LinkedIn.
