SAfAIDS is a regional NGO that specialises in designing, packaging, producing and distributing quality HIV and AIDS information. Due to funding delays, they recently had to implement a 12-month project to develop HIV workplace policies with 22 organisations in just three months. Usually, HIV workplace policy development took place over a much longer period of time. However, after much deliberation, the SAfAIDS team decided to break their own rules, dramatically altering and accelerating their usual approach. This led to surprising results.

This note details the experiences of the SAfAIDS team tasked with implementing the accelerated workplace policy development model. It shares their process, successes and challenges, and offers some advice for those interested in developing and implementing a similar approach.
