This report is aimed primarily at members of NGO support organisations who have an interest in the nature and function of the organisations within which they work, and who experience firsthand the challenges this work invites.

this report presents interpretations of the identity and origins of NGO support organisations, elements and trends that have shaped their development and distinctive features. It also examines types of services provided by NGO support organisations and something of what is required for quality provision of these services. it then explores some challenges faced by NGO support organisations in their own development.
