Edward is an experienced researcher and consultant with a particular focus on the Middle East, Sudan and South Sudan. He has undertaken and managed a range of programme evaluations and research assignments, using a broad range of disciplines and methods. He has published peer-reviewed books, chapters and articles, on Sudan, South Sudan and Syria, and on human rights.

He has also published reports for think-tanks, UN bodies and NGOs as well as working as a journalist and commentator for different broadcast and print media outlets. He has wide experience as a teacher and trainer and course director. He has worked as a child rights adviser for Save the Children and different UN bodies. He can work in English and Arabic.
